For apsolutely no reason at all, I decided to post this.  In Googling and clicking around, not particually looking for anything in particular, I found exactly something not in particular.  I felt that if I didn't post this to the blog then when I actually needed breakaway glass, I'd never get a hit.

The same thing once occured to me many years ago while visiting some local yard sales.  I went to one and sitting on the table was a skeletal foot.  The high-quality type similar to the educational skeletons in schools.  I figured that if I didn't buy the foot, then when I needed a skeletal foot, I'd never be able to find one.  So I plopped down the $1.

Fake Glass Recipe

2 cups water
1 cup white corn syrup
3 1/2 cups sugar
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar.

Mix all the ingredients together.  Let it come to a boil, which will be about 220 degrees.  Let it go to 300 degrees and pour.  Silicone molds work best.

I haven't tried it, and I don't know how it would compare to actual movie breakaway glass, but hey, it's recorded for posterity.  Just don't come after me if you cut yourself with sugar.  I'm not liable for your lack of safety and common sense.
