As a point of local flair, my hometown of Pocahontas, Arkansas won first place for "Best Lunch Stop" by the drivers and crew of the Great Race. This follows the distinction of being the first town in the history of the race to be stopped at a second time.
The Great Race is the longest running and richest vintage automobile rally in the country. There are over 100 cars and each car must be at least 45 years old.
Lunch in Pocahontas included a choice between a fried catfish dinner and grilled duck breast, each with full sides. But then I always knew that the people in this little town of 6000 could cook some good catfish. The prize was $5000 to the local library.
