Every year when I go to whip up a batch of my grandmother's ("Twomommy") Hot Spiced Tea, I never can find the recipe.  Last year I wrote it on a card and put it inside the container, thinking that when it gets low enough to see the card, it will be time to make more anyway.

Within a day or so, almost my entire stock of tea, and card, was poured into artsy containers and all given away for Christmas gifts.

So this year, after getting enough stuff to make a 55 gallon drum of hot tea, and getting the recipe, once again, from my Dad, I decided to post the recipe here.  Where I'm sure I won't remember I posted it next year.  Enjoy.

Twomommy's Hot Spiced Tea

3/4 cup Lipton instant tea, unsweetened, with lemon
2 1/2 cups Sugar
2 cups Tang
1 tablespoon Ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon Ground cloves

Mix. Use 2 tablespoons in 1 cup boiling water.

Print this and tape it on the jar........ then you can find it next time

Yeah.  Sure.

If you mistakenly get a big thing of SWEETENED tea instead of the unsweetened, you can adjust it like this:
1/2 cup Lipton UNSWEETENED tea, with lemon
2 1/2 cups Liptop SWEETENED tea, with lemon
then the same amounts of Tang and spices.
Apparently Lipton doen'st have as much tea in their mix as this tea requires.

Also, note that the mixture is very pretty, with swirls of white, dark and light browns. It goes really well in a clear glass jar. Just make sure it is kept in an airproof container.
