Happy Birthday to Me!
Happy Birthday to Me!
Happy Birthday to Bryan!
Happy Birthday to Me!
In case you couldn't figure it out, today is my birthday. Today on this day back in 1966, my parents, Bill and Pamela Britt, drove through a blinding blizzard from their home in tiny Aberdeen, MS to the county seat of Amory. I'm sure they would say that since then, nothing has been the same.

If I were a girl, which I wasn't, I was to be named Kimberly Lee. If I were a boy, I was to be named David Moore. For those following along, you'll notice that I'm not named David Moore Britt. When I was born, my parents decided that I didn't look like a David, so they named me Brian Leigh Britt.

Twenty-three hours after that name was entered on the birth certificate and one hour before it was official, Dad spoke up and the spelling changed to Bryan Lee. Thank you, Dad.
My neighbor was out this morning cleaning out is car. Sipping his coffee, getting ready to go get his vaccuum to get the inside, he heard something. Turning his head, he saw a small grey pickup truck hit the culvert for the driveway accross the street from me, careen past him, hit the next culvert, and flip upside down. The truck had rolled over. And at least it didn't roll over and over and over.   more »

As a point of local flair, my hometown of Pocahontas, Arkansas won first place for "Best Lunch Stop" by the drivers and crew of the Great Race.  This follows the distinction of being the first town in the history of the race to be stopped at a second time.

The Great Race is the longest running and richest vintage automobile rally in the country.  There are over 100 cars and each car must be at least 45 years old.

Lunch in Pocahontas included a choice between a fried catfish dinner and grilled duck breast, each with full sides.  But then I always knew that the people in this little town of 6000 could cook some good catfish.  The prize was $5000 to the local library.

Now I had seen the Challenger before the last time it came through Conway in January and it stopped and everyone gawked and awed and everything, but the others that were with me hadn't seen it. I'm getting my pic. I didn't have a camera last time. I'm getting my pic. So the race is on. Hop in the truck and we chase this train to Little Rock.   more »
